Major General George Izard

George Izard was Wade Hampton's second-in-command in the army of the Northeast until Hampton's resignation. In 1814, John Armstrong ordered him to take the bulk of his forces west to reinforce the army of the Center around the Niagara river, leaving the door open to British invasion under George Prevost in late August.
