Removing the Blocks

The standard US Model 1808 Infantry Cartridge Box contained a wooden box with 28 holes for cartridges. However regulation for the US Army required infantry troopers to carry 60 rounds. This may indicate that it was common to remove the block, carrying the extra rounds in the Cartridge Box loose.
