Privateers 1813

By 1813 privateers were starting to have difficulties slipping past the British blockade, but some notable successes were made. The True-Blood Yankee (16 guns) raided the English coast for 37 days. The British remarked that it "outsailed everything." It even sailed directly into an Irish harbor and burned seven ships. Under the command of Joshua Hailey, it captured and occupied an island off Ireland for six days while the ship made repairs. In all she took 27 prizes. On her third cruise the ship was finally captured because all but 32 of her 200 man crew were sailing captured ships back to the United States.

The Rattlesnake (16 guns) and the Scourge (15 guns) also did well, capturing 23 prizes.
