March Preparations Begin

Up until this point the Army of the Northwest had remained effective trapped at Ft. Meigs, mostly by disease. Here's an account from the Boston Weekly Messenger, July 9, 1813:

By the accounts from the army (late Harrison's) it appears that sickness rages among the troops to an alarming degree. Many have died, among whom is Gen. (Green) Clay, and many are still sick. It is thought that there will be nothing done towards taking Malden until the arrival of reinforcements.

But the victory on Lake Erie had turned the tide and troops had begun preparations to advance on and recapture Detroit.
