Battle of St. Mary's River

On February 13 a British force bombarded Ft. Peter and then landed 1500 marines near the town of St. Mary's, Florida. The British then attacked and took the fort.

The British headed for town of St. Mary's, following the St. Mary's River. During their advance they ran into 160 men of the 43rd Infantry Regiment and some local rifle militia. The British easily drove off the outnumbered Americans.
