Secret Codes

The above is a cipher alphabet and numerals code sent by Paul Hamilton, the then Secretary of the Navy, allowing commanders to make secret communications to the Navy Department. This cipher is a simple letter replacement and is rather simple to decode, with a small amount of effort.

Note: A simple and common way to improve the encryption is to simply remove all the vowels from the message. The message is normally readable, but harder to decode.
