US War Cry

The most common American war cry of the War of 1812 was the Remember the Raisin or Remember the River Raisin.

This war cry, heard long before Remember the Alamo or Remember the Maine, referred to the battle of the River Raisin, fought in January of 1813. 397 Americans were killed in this battle . . . The largest single death rate of any battle in the war of 1812. The battle came to symbolize the savagery of engagements fought in the northwestern frontier. The day after the final battle, Native Americans killed many Kentucky Volunteers too wounded to walk.
