British Privateers

British privateers also scored well in 1812, operating mostly out of maritime Canada. Leading ships were the Liverpool Packet (5 guns), Sir John Sherbrooke (18 guns) and the Retaliation (5 guns). Together they took 80 prizes.

Oddly enough most of these prizes were taken from the New England Coast, yet these losses did not seem to put a dent into the general New England ant-war feeling.
